London Live’s production and control room needed to operate remotely during the pandemic to produce their daily news shows. In addition, they happened to be moving offices to reduce their footprint and improve their sustainability impact. The arrival of both challenges simultaneously provided a unique opportunity to rethink how they produced news. COVID came with little warning, meaning time was of the essence.
London Live partnered with Support Partners to implement AIR Spaces, a fully managed Microsoft Azure-native solution enabling secure, remote news production. Support Partners designed virtual workspace blueprints for editors, producers, journalists, and technical directors, allowing staff to access the latest hardware and software from anywhere. Through an intuitive web portal, teams could provision resources in minutes, while Support Partners monitored and optimized performance, reducing IT overhead and accelerating delivery timelines.
The transition to AIR Spaces delivered transformative results. London Live doubled its content output, achieved 50% cost savings, and reduced on-premises data center space by 75%, supporting sustainability and downsizing goals. Additionally, the shift to distributed work eliminated 40,000 annual commutes, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and reinforcing London Live’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
